International Agriculture Show: TotalEnergies and InVivo strengthen their partnership to support the energy transition of the agricultural sector

On the occasion of the International Agricultural Show, InVivo, France’s leading agricultural cooperative group, and TotalEnergies announce the signing of a new partnership aimed at supporting the energy transition of French agriculture.
This partnership seeks to develop energy and agronomic solutions designed to strengthen farm autonomy, create new sources of income for farmers, and contribute to France’s agricultural and energy sovereignty. It will cover the following areas:
- Development of sustainable energy solutions at farm and value-chain level (methanization, agrivoltaics);
- Innovation and digitalization to manage energy and agronomic performance;
- Support for local territories in close collaboration with agricultural cooperatives.
This partnership will take shape through the establishment of joint working groups, feedback from field experience, and support schemes to enable operational deployment within agricultural value chains.
Methanization: developing a value chain for fertilizer recovery
The collaboration will focus primarily on developing a value chain to recover digestates from methanization, with the aim of strengthening farm autonomy in fertilizers, creating local circular economy loops, and generating additional value for farmers.
Agrivoltaics: producing energy without compromising the food-producing role of land
InVivo and TotalEnergies will continue the work already underway on the agrivoltaic demonstrator in Valpuiseaux (Île-de-France), one of the few projects applied to large-scale crop farming. The site makes it possible to assess the impact of installations on agricultural production, biodiversity and microclimate, including water resources. The objective is to deploy, together with cooperatives, agrivoltaic models that support economic performance and climate resilience of farms, while guaranteeing the primacy of agricultural land use.
“We are delighted to sign this new partnership with InVivo, bringing together our expertise and know-how to accelerate the deployment of solutions that enable the agricultural sector to increase its income by producing energy, while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its activities and reducing its carbon footprint,” said Isabelle Patrier, President of TotalEnergies France.
“As a cooperative group, our responsibility is to turn the transition of French agriculture into concrete opportunities for farmers. This partnership directly contributes to their energy autonomy, fertilizer sovereignty and the creation of new sources of income in local territories. By leveraging the strength of our cooperatives, we are building practical solutions that can be deployed on a large scale and generate value for both farms and French agricultural value chains,” said Thierry Blandinières, CEO of InVivo.
TotalEnergies and the agricultural sector
TotalEnergies supports the agricultural sector by developing concrete solutions to ensure the energy transition of its value chains, combining agriculture and energy production. TotalEnergies is proud to have become a major player in agrivoltaics and agri-energies, with more than 120 projects currently under development in France, which will ultimately represent nearly 1 GW of renewable electricity capacity.
In the field of methanization, TotalEnergies already operates 13 biogas units across France and, in 2025, worked with more than 1,000 agricultural and agri-food partners, recovering waste and supplying them with an organic fertilizer, digestate, within a local circular economy model.
