In January, Bioline Agrosciences and the company Biocolor (Spain) announced the creation of a new company “Bioline Iberia”. On Tuesday, 7 May, 2019, this collaboration strengthened with the official inauguration of a new "Biomanufacturing Plant" in El Ejido, a few kilometres from Almeria, attended by the leaders of the French cooperative union InVivo

The new 4000 m2 building was transformed into a biomanufacturing plant in record time, less than 6 months. A dozen climate-controlled rooms for producing beneficial insects, in addition to ultra-modern packing equipment, have been installed. This project has already created 20 jobs.

"The choice of El Ejido in the centre Almeria's greenhouses must be put in perspective with our growth ambitions and strategic plan to permanently establish ourselves in one of the most important biocontrol markets in the world: the Iberian Peninsula (Spain, Portugal and Morocco)," said Ludwik Pokorny, Managing Director of Bioline Agrosciences.

"The purpose of building this biomanufacturing plant is to satisfy customer needs and to bring the production and delivery of beneficial insects closer to farmers and user cooperatives," said Maria José Pardo, Managing Director of Bioline Iberia.

"Bioline Agrosciences' investment in the region is a great example of cooperation between Spanish and French cooperatives and aims to 'offer Andalusian farmers the best of current biocontrol technology and enable them to overcome the challenges they face: offering consumers more sustainable food with a minimum of waste'," said Thierry Blandinières in his speech.

To recall, Biocolor has brought this union both its brand, which is well-established in the cooperative sector, and a solid reputation for its exceptional service quality. Bioline Agrosciences has brought its internationally renowned brand, product portfolio and technical know-how; as well as innovative biocontrol solutions. As of November 2018, Bioline IBERIA began distributing predatory mites for the greenhouse market in the Almeria region. This region supplies up to 60% of the northern European market with vegetables.
