Since 13 November 2019, the 100 Jardiland France branch shops have been offering surprise baskets of unsold plants at a reduced price via the Too Good To Go mobile app. The aim is to give a second life to plants that are no longer in full bloom and therefore no longer have a place on the shelves. This system will be deployed in all the stores in the InVivo Retail network, with priority given to Gamm vert.

"We are very pleased to initiate the deployment of Too Good To Go in the garden centre sector. This partnership is part of the deployment of InVivo Retail's CSR policy, in which the preservation of nature's riches and the fight against all forms of waste are major priorities. It expresses our desire to promote responsible gardening through simple, commercial and virtuous initiatives. It allows us to reach a connected clientele and to respond to the desires of our customers who are passionate about gardening and who aspire to consume smartly and sustainably," says Guillaume Darrasse - Managing Director of InVivo Retail.

Promoting a new cycle for unsold plants that deserve a longer life.

Every year, due to the vagaries of the weather and calendar events (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, All Saints' Day, etc.), up to 9% of plants in shops go unsold and are recycled as compost or plant waste.

Today, plants arrive in shops at their peak of freshness. When they start to lose their apparent vitality or aesthetic appeal (defoliated, leafless, etc.), they are offered to customers at a significant price reduction. After this stage, the unsold plants are sent for plant recycling. Yet these plants are viable.

With the deployment of the Too Good To Go application, one of the solutions for reducing waste, several hundred thousand plants will be able to continue their life cycle by decorating gardens, terraces and homes rather than ending up in compost or waste.

In concrete terms, with Too Good To Go, the company will be offering surprise baskets of plants at a reduced price of €7.99 for a minimum original value of €30.

To meet all their needs and desires, customers can choose between a basket of outdoor plants or a basket of indoor plants. Put together by the in-store teams, these surprise baskets of viable plants are posted online via the app for a green thumb to give them a new lease on life! Customers order online and collect their basket in shop.
